According to the public relations office of the NDRI, the fifth meeting of the IMIRA Draft Committee (Iranian Multisector Initial Rapid Assessment) was hosted by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of I.R. Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and the National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO), and the Natural Disasters Research Institute was held online in order to share Pakistan's experiences in the localization of IMIRA guidance by Mr. Fawad Hussain, Humanitarian Affairs Officer at UNOCHA, Geneva.
The Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) approach was recommended provisionally in November 2011 by the United Nations Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to assess the needs of the disaster-affected population. IMIRA has been developed in line with the IASC Operational Guidance for Coordinated Assessments in Humanitarian Crises and the IASC Guidance on MIRA.
